"Those who do not learn history are doomed to repeat it" - George Santayana - To survive in modern society it helps if you remember the past. Of course if you have lived in the past that should give you quite the advantage, and if you have lived over a thousand years then everything should be easy ... shouldn't it? Sunny Sherwood is a private investigator who has finally been handed an easy case, to find a missing college professor. Three continents later, five brushes with lost history, and Sunny is just starting to get to the bottom of a mystery that promises to drag her back to her most secret and painful memories, the murder of her first child. Sunny must solve the mystery while trying to keep her past demons at bay.

I read this book when it first came out and enjoyed it. I never got around to leaving a review (shame on me). Recently I was hunting for something to read on an upcoming trip and realized I had not left a review for this book. While thinking about what I would say in a review I realized that I had forgot some of the details, so I decided to re-read the book. I must say I enjoyed it probably more than the first time as I discovered more of the story details than I did before. Another reviewer gave a brief synopsis of the story, so I will not repeat it. The authors however take the reader through an ever-increasing complexity of plot twists and travel both globally and through time. The authors’ brief history lessons in the plot was also very enjoyable. Many time when an author tries to add this level of plot twists the story becomes unwieldy. This story however was able to tie the plot twists into a series of pleasant surprises. I highly recommend this book and am anxious to see if a sequel is in the works. Do not let the low number of reviews scare you away from reading this book. I am sure there are many like me that has read the story and never got around to leaving a review.Product details

Best. Book. Ever.
Eternal Bones is the first story of a vampire private eye. Sunny, a young woman made a vampire in 8th century England, has been hired in 21st century Berkeley, CA by a graduate student to find the missing, last member of a dissertation committee. She quickly finds that her lost professor is near the center of an international scheme to profit from long-lost artworks pilfered from a vampire monastery. The author creates an uncomplicated medical cause for vampirism that allows vampires to be long lived, create more vampires, but hide in plain sight because too few of their victims can survive the transformation. They may be a little pale, have super-human strength and speed, and bright sunlight hurts their eyes, but they can still enjoy a good latté and pastry in the morning. And they can have sex and make normal human babies. I enjoyed the many scenes in Berkeley and San Francisco that took me back to my college days, but also the realistic descriptions when Sunny’s investigation takes her to London, Tokyo, and Ethiopia. The author successfully creates for the reader a protagonist who feels real in a believable, if parallel, world for an altogether enjoyable read.
Fabulous writing by the authors. Very interesting book and plot.
